"Allegorical Art" is a term James Muir uses to describe his work, which is filled with symbology to help create a heightened social, political and spiritual awareness. "The allegorical symbolism in my sculptures bridges the centuries of history to make contemporary statements about the human condition, in order to exemplify the highest qualities of man. My work speaks of Duty, Honor, Courage, Liberty and Justice, but above all, it speaks of Truth and the ultimate triumph of the human spirit".

The "Lord of The Ring" symbolizes the Christ of God rising with the breath of the Holy Spirit through the Divine Ring, the Mobius Ring - a scientific phenomenon - which, like God, has only one infinite "side". For God, this eternal side is unconditional Love which is brought into being by the Christ to give the blessing of "Peace" to all who will seek and receive Truth.

Additional Symbolism:

  • Palm Frond - Peace & martyrdom
  • Chi-Ro on "Crown of Thorns" with 12 Roses
  • Rose-Croix with Cross in the form of the Sword of Truth over the heart
  • Rope Belt with 3 knots - 3 paths (suffering, service, surrender) ending in a single "tie that binds" protected and secure within the receiving left hand
  • Ring of "Service to One thru Service to All"
  • Mobius Ring - with Love flowing forth like water to quench every thirst and nourish spiritual growth; rough ashlars of rock being sculpted and refined to perfection
  • Doves - bearing olive branches of Peace to all corners of the Earth
  • Mobius as Infinity bringing "at-one-ment" of the spiritual and the physical-never more to be separated
  • Twin flames of the feminine/masculine, the Heart and the Head, into a final perfect balance
  • "Shlamaa" (Aramaic for Peace)

    Bronze Sculpture

In keeping with his deep spiritual convictions and social consciousness, Muir's sculptural subjects have expanded to reflect the critical nature of the times in which we live. Yet, whether historical or contemporary, "the golden thread that ties it all together is still my never-ending quest for the essence of life- for Truth in its purest form."
