Depicts emotions of longing felt by soldiers on many battlefields in many wars During a lull in the battle, this young Confederate soldier, with Boyle, Gamble and MacFee sabre bayonet fixed on his "Mississippi" rifle ready for the next charge, takes a few precious moments--possibly his last--to read for perhaps the hundredth time the “Letter from Home." |

In keeping with his deep spiritual convictions and social consciousness, Muir's sculptural subjects have expanded to reflect the critical nature of the times in which we live. Yet, whether historical or contemporary, "the golden thread that ties it all together is still my never-ending quest for the essence of life— for Truth in its purest form."
