Distant Drum a Bronze Sculpture Allegory by James Muir Bronze Allegorical Sculptor-Artist
"Distant Drum"
Lifesize bust 31"H
edition 12
Somewhere in the wilderness of the western frontier, the sound of a distant drum alerts and awakens the warrior-spirit in this veteran of many battlefields. Somewhere in the wilderness of our inner frontier, the drum beat of a still small voice alerts and awakens the Spirit-warrior in us all.
HISTORICAL NOTE:
The origin of this drum came from the Oglala Lakota nation Horse Dreamer Society. The tail features thunder rising through a great storm of lightning and rain to reach the heavens. The vision centers on the alert, prancing horse. The storm emitting from the tail, the arched neck, denotes energy, action, and power of the thunder horse. The sacred hail paint (blue dots) and the red streaks on the body indicate the spiritual nature of the horse. The blue mane with red swallows form a conventional spirituality of the horse dreamer.'
